Tsavo East
Description
Tsavo East National Park is one of Kenya’s largest and most historic wildlife sanctuaries, celebrated for its vast open landscapes, dramatic red soils, and the famous red elephants that roam its plains. Spanning more than 13,700 km², the park offers a true sense of wilderness, with endless horizons, rugged terrains, and some of the most untouched natural scenery in East Africa.
Home to an impressive variety of wildlife—including lions, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, rhinos, hippos, and more than 500 species of birds—Tsavo East provides exceptional year-round game viewing. The park’s major highlights include the Aruba Dam, a vital water source that attracts large concentrations of animals, and the Yatta Plateau, the world’s longest lava flow, stretching over 300 km.
With its uncrowded game drives, striking red-dust sunsets, and raw, authentic safari atmosphere, Tsavo East offers a unique blend of adventure and tranquility. Its convenient access from both Nairobi and Mombasa makes it an ideal safari destination for travelers seeking a classic, diverse, and unforgettable wildlife experience.
